I have 3 markets in a row this weekend, and I have purchased Canada Day decorations for my booth.  It should look very festive.

I made 4 of these cards especially for the tourists, but for anyone who wants to celebrate our country's birthday.
Stamp set:  Canada Day
Ink: Read Red ink and real red SU marker
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White
Accessories: Dazzling diamonds

Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

Leaf on Alcohol Ink Background

This background was made using blue, green and purple alcohol inks using a daubing motion.
The leaf stamp is unknown.
The image is backed onto purple cardstock.
The basic card is purple, upon which there is a layer of mauve.  I put a strip of purple card stock which I put through the cuttlebug using a polka dot embossing folder to give it texture.
Again, this card was made in class at Crop Circles with Evelyne Moran at the helm as teacher.

Alcohol Ink Cards - giving credit

These alcohol ink backgrounds were made during a class at Crop Circles in Peterborough Square, Peterborough Ontario.  The teacher was Evelyne Moran from Maynooth, who drove for 1 1/2 hours to get there.  So, as much as I would like to tell you the name of the stamps and their manufacturer I cannot as they are not my stamps.
It was suggested that while we were making our backgrounds that we keep track of the colours we were using, but we were all so excited we forgot.
So - there you have it - can't give you the recipe, nor the name of the stamp
But I would like to thank Crop Circles and Evelyne Moran for her excellent teaching.  I learned so much that day even though I was deathly ill and had to leave half way through her class.

A wintery looking card - but isn't it gorgeous?

I used pearl mixative and gray alcohol ink on a shiny black card stock, dabbing to get this stormy looking background.
Today has been a hot day, but I look at this card and immediately cool down.
I stamped an image of bare branches on this background and embossed it with white embossing powder.
Then I embossed Dasher (the deer) on acetate and adhered it over this scenery.
I just love it....even if I'm not ready for summer to end.
Another alcohol ink background, but softer this time, using plum, green and turquoise.  The image was stamped with Blue Stazon ink and immediately stamped a second time.  It was matted with brilliant blue card stock.  The card is brilliant blue, upon which is a white layer of embossed card stock.  The ribbon ties it all together.

Alcohol Ink with Acetate Overlay

I've been making several cards using alcohol inks as the background.
For this card I used butterscotch, yellow and blue, with a pearl fixative - in a swirl pattern.
I then took a piece of clear acetate sized to fit the card, stamped the image with Stazon ink and adhered it to the alcohol ink  background.
Isn't the effect stunning?

Here's another card using the same colour combinations.  This time I daubed the applicator instead of swirling it.  Both images were stamped with Stazon ink.

I had some ink left on my applicator, so rather than waste it, I used a wide swath  application (if that's what you call it.  The leafless tree was a natural to stamp on this background.

Tomorrow I'll post some more alcohol ink projects.

Happy birthday grandson

This is a card I made for my grandson's birthday.
Iris folding is a technique that I love to do, but haven't done much of it lately.
I made a bag to match.

Red Hat flower pins made with Big Shot

I was approached by a lady from the Red Hat Society to make a flower pin for herself - a solid red one, or purple, or a mix.  So far I've made the red one and the mix.  I used antique buttons in the middle.

To make the pin, I used 4 of the medium flowers, 4 of the smaller one and 4 of the smallest using the XL Flower Folds die and the Big Shot  An extra small one was cut to attach the pin to.
The various elements were put together as per Sheilas blog.

Granddaughter's first birthday

My granddaughter is turning 1 in a couple of weeks, so made her this card.  I tried to keep the embellishments to a minimum, because watching my other grand children, the first thing they do is pull them off the card.
My daughter tells me she is now walking "with a walker" which has a carrier for her doll.  I chuckled when I heard that as the word "walker" has a different meaning for me.
It seems she was just born yesterday - the year has gone by very fast - probably not for her mother, but definitely for me.

The image was stamped with Memento ink onto Whisper white card stock and coloured with copic markers - again while I was at Market.
Other materials:
.label spellbinder
.3 different designer papers on rose red card stock
.pink ribbon
.punches:  word finder and modern word label.  Sentiment stamp by Teeny Tiny Wishes

A mulberry covered journal

I needed to replenish my stock of covered journals as they have been selling very well at market.
This one I decided to cover with red mulberry paper with gold streaks through it.  To make the paper a bit more substantial I put quilting batting between it and the  journal cover.
While shopping today I saw this beautiful rose and immediately knew it would look beautiful on the cover of the journal - and it does.  I made the leaves from Sage Shadow paper, and the edges using the photo edge punch.
The stamp is from Frog's Whiskers Ink.

This is the side view of the journal, showing the faux braiding I did on the spine.

A closer look at the faux braiding using ribbon and a metal embellishment.

Boats and Dock - a masculine birthday card

Threatening black clouds hovered over the skies of Lakefield Farmer's Market yesterday while I was selling my cards.  Thankfully, they moved on and a patch of blue expanded to fill the whole horizon and the warm sun beamed on me while I coloured.
This was another one of the scenes I coloured with copics yesterday, and just love the way it turned out.  I wanted to capture the threatening sky, and that beautiful window of beautiful weather that ensued.
Stamp:  Dock and Boats from Frog's Whiskers Ink, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:  copic markers, Faded Jeans distress ink, memento black ink
Paper:  Basic Gray, Designer paper (unknown)
Other:  Basic Gray satin ribbon, photo corner punch, word label punch, modern word label punch, crystal effects, twine

Time begins in the Garden

"In the Garden of Life friends are the flowers that bloom"
That's what the quote on the inside of the card states.
Before going to Lakefield Farmer's Market today, I finished planting the last plants I had grown from seed.  Phew!!
So, gardening was on my mind.
I coloured this little girl gardening while I was selling my cards - during a lull that is - which wasn't very often.  I had a really good day.
Stamp:  Time begins in a Garden - All Night's Media, quote stamp from Frog's Whiskers, Ink
Paper:  Old Olive, Whisper White, Very Vanilla, designer paper (unknown)
Ink:  Memento (black), copic markers, Peeled Paint distress Ink
Other:  Embossing folder from Cuttlebug (inked with Peeled Paint distress ink), Old Olive satin ribbon, flower embellishments(unknown), Labels spellbinders nestabilities.

Father's Day - coming soon

I am also doing a class in this technique over the next 2 weeks. I will describe the technique after the class is over as I don't want to spoil my class.

Stamp:  Boat and Lighthouse by Impression Obsession, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:  Distress inks:  Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans, Scattered Straw, and Worn Lipstick. Archival black
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Basic black, and Whisper White

Accessories:  Yellow eyelets, Twine in a sailor's know, clear embossing powder

Re-use - what do you do with that packing paper?

What do you do with all that filler paper that comes with a Stampin Up order?

Reuse - in a different form of course.
Here I made 2 flowers using the big flower punch and smooching it with the gold spritz smooch.

Other ideas:
I ironed the strip of paper, accordion folded it, and use it to glue items on.  You always have a clean piece of paper and won't get glue on your good work.

Lastly, use it to spray your smooch on (if you haven't purchased the smooching station that is)

Anyone have any other ideas?

Bob (Blue on Blue swap)

We started with white on white (WOW), now have progressed to BOB (blue on blue), and the next swap is POP (Purple on Purple)

This meticulously tea folded card was submitted by Evelyne Moran.  I've taken some of her classes and she does marvelous work - and is a great teacher.

Lynne Ross chose to make blue dragon flies hiding behind an acetate overlay.

Dorothy Streets made this neat card with fish cavorting over diagonal waves of paper and ribbon.  I told her I wanted to catch these playful fish, but couldn't figure out the angle (Ha Ha)
Lovely job.

Moon swap

This was a swap to demonstrate any form of aboriginal art.

This card was submitted by Dee Richardson

Lynne Ross's card made the home page I feel privileged to have a hard copy of this wonderful card.

This is Kelly Polyak's wolf.  GRRRR!!

And the last one is the one I submitted.  It shows 2 eskimo children rubbing noses.  The images were coloured with copic markers.

Happy 13th birthday - for a gal going on 30

This card was commissioned by grandma for her granddaughter who is turning 13 but is "going on 30".  She loves the colours purple and green, so I used that colour scheme predominantly.  Shopping is her passion, but she also likes flowers.
Stamp:  Penny Black "Out and About"
Inks:  image coloured with copic markers, Dusty Concord Distress Ink
Paper:  Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Designer Paper unknown, thin card board for letters, Lovely Lilac
Other:  Square lattice embossing folder with Big Shot, Top Note Die , butterly brads (unknown), ribbon (unknown)
The numbers 13 were made using the Sissiz Shadow Box number set.  A clear and stick powder was applied with an embossing gun after which olive glitter was applied and heated again.  The sentiment was typed on my computer to personalize the card.

Birthday girl with dog

Birthday girls with dog

The image of this cute  little girls was coloured with copic markers, a medium that I am beginning to become addicted to. This is a Stampavieve stamp, and I have most of them.  They tug at  my heart strings.
What do you think?

I cannot tell you the markers that I use as I use them intuitively, not noticing the names or numbers of the markers.  I go with what works for me.
The paper is non SU, but  the ribbon is old olive satin ribbon.
The word stamp is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched out with the world window punch, and the modern label punch. - both of which will be retiring at the end of this month.
