The masking technique was used to place the two sail boats in a racing position.
I tied the Baker's Twine in a sailor's knot.

Just for You - Challenge 119 -

 I am excited to be the guest designer for the month of May for the Late Night Stamper group.  This week's challenge is the Power of 3 - use 3 embellishments on a card or scrapbook layout.

Anniversary Goodies for Caroline LeBel - Team Leader for the Canadians Ink team

I presented Caroline with this card and cupcake box (with an actual cupcake in it) at the last team meeting in Toronto April 23.  She was celebrating her 9 year anniversary with Stampin Up.

Anniversary goodies for me!

As those of you who follow my blog know, I'm celebrating 9 years as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator this month. 9 years! Not sure how that happened, but the old adage of how "time flies when you're having fun" sure rings true in this case.

I was gifted with many beautiful cards from my stamping peeps this weekend, so I'll try to get them all posted here before the month is done.

The first I get to show you will be a gorgeous card & cupcake set from the incomparable Maria Vanderform. How lucky are we to have her as part of our "Canadians, INK!" team, not to forget our gratitude at her willingness to share and teach us new things at every meeting. She rocks our socks!



Here's a closeup for you to better see some of the details of this card.

I just loved the two "9"s that were covered in chunky glitter - me and my bling, eh? Maria knows me well!
The flowers and butterfly were all embossed with White EP and cut out before being layered on the card.
And if you do not recognize the stamp set or Designer paper, don't worry -- that's because it's using NEW goodies being featured in the upcoming Summer Mini catalogue!
As a demonstrator, Maria and others have been able to get their stamping mitts on the goodies from the new catty ahead of time...always one of the funner perks of demo-hood!

This coolio box made from the Love Impressions Specialty DSP had a nifty circular holder on the inside to keep the cupcake in place. A box like this is a great way for you to be able to give a sugary treat to someone without worry of it toppling over en route. There was no fear that this Black-Forest goodie was NOT going to be eaten and appreciated, though :)

Imagine the Possibilities - Inkspiration Challenges #67

I'm laid up drying a plaster cast I had put on my right foot because of a tendon injury. What a week I've had - first a severe allergy to nuts, and now a tendon injury.  So, one could understand if I just wanted to sail away.

Strength & hope card wins at Stamping in the Basement

I am humbled that yet another card I designed has won a challenge with Stamping in the Basement yahoo group here
The colors I used in this card are based on the colors of outfits I wore at a Fashion Show last week, which was a fund raiser for a deadly type of childhood cancer.  It seemed fitting that I use the Strength & Hope stamp set. Thanks - Stamping411 & Challenge 119

Today is such a dull, rainy day that I just had to work with bright colors, and certainly the colors selected for the summer palette in the new summer Occasions mini catalogue are bright!
Again, I completed 2 challenges with 1 card - Stamping 411 sketch challenge http://stamping411.blogspot.com/2011/04/saturday-sketch-challenge-201.html and challenge 119 with the LNS Yahoo group - the power of 3 - to use 3 embellishments on a card or project.

I started with a Daffodil Delight base, then cut and embossed a Tangerine Tango layer with the Square Lattice embossing folder.  A 1/8" Daffodile delight taffeta ribbon was attached to the lower end of the Tangerine Tango layer before attaching it to the base card.
The Beyond the Garden designer series paper was used as my main image.  I embossed the centers of the flowers with Wild Wasabi embossing powder and with a Two Step Glue Pen applied dazzling diamonds to the outside edges of the flowers.
The DSP was matted with Wild Wasabi card stock and applied to the Tangerine Tango layer with Stampin Dimensionals.
The sentiment was inked with a Melon Mambo marker to highlight just the word "Thanks".  I then sponged the edges and matted the Whisper White card stock it was stamped on with Melon Mambo paper.  The sentiment panel was attached to the card front with dimensionals at one end and snail adhesive at the other end.  Rhinestones below the sentiment completed the card.

Hello - Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 115

I'm having a lot of fun working with bright colors on this dull day - and having a lot of fun working with the new stamp set from the new Occassions mini - Fabulous Florets.  I used the sketch challenge from Sweet Sunday Sketch http://kgiron.blogspot.com/2011/05/sweet-sunday-sketch-challenge-115.html to design this card.

The base of the card is Wild Wasabi, followed by a layer of Melon Mambo that I embossed with the Perfectly Polka dot embossing folder.
Next I cut a piece of Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper and matted it with Pacific Point.
Then I concentrated on the focal point, the flower.  First I stamped the image of the Poppy flower and two leaves on Whisper White card stock using Black Stazon ink.  I wanted the center to be really black, so I embossed the stamens in the center with black embossing powder - applying the Versa Mark with the SU Versamarker Watermark Pen.  This pen is perfect for embossing in small areas or if you've embossed something and a spot has been missed.
I love the Wonder watercolor crayons, and applying it using the Aqua brush painter.  Three colors of shades of pink/red were used for the flower - first Regal rose, followed by Melon Mambo and finally a touch of Real red.  Daffodil delight was used in the center of the flower.  The leaves were colored first with Certainly Celery followed by Old Olive.  The flower and leaves were cut out - the flower mounted with dimensionals and the leaves glued onto the focal panel. Of course, some bling in the form of Dazzling diamonds had to be added to the center of the flower  Before I attached the flower and leaves I colored a small area with daffodil delight and rose red just to give some background color.
The edges of the focal panel were rounded with the Corner Rounder punch, and matted with Pacific Point card stock also with its edges rounded.
The sentiment is from Swirls & Curls verses - stamped in Pacific Point ink on Whisper White card stock and punched out using a 1 1/4" circle punch, then matted with a 1 3/8" circle of Pacific Point card stock.
I liked the little bird and the happy notes I decided to stamp them on the focal image in 2 of the corners.
Pearls provided accents near the top right  of the card above the focal point.

The card base is Melon Mambo, layered with Wild Wasabi card stock.  Then I cut a piece of Beyond the Garden Designer Paper and cut it into 2 uneven pieces.  One of the pattern sides was placed on the left side, and the other side of the paper was placed on the right side.  I used the dotted ribbon scallop border punch to punch a ribbon like strip of daffodil delight  to cover the seam where the designer paper was cut.  After attaching that daffodil delight ribbon to the designer paper over the seam, I embossed the entire piece of paper using the square lattice embossing folder (inlaid embossing technique)
The Focal Image: On a strip of whisper White card stock, I embossed the outline leaf stamp from the Fabulous Florets stamp set with Wild Wasabi embossing powder.  I embossed the image of the ?marigold with Tangerine Tango embossing powder.  Both surfaces were wiped with Embossing buddies to ensure the embossing powder didn't get where I didn't want it.
The marigold was cut out and mounted on top of the leaf image using dimensionals.  This piece of Whisper White was matted with Daffodil Delight card stock and attached to the designer paper over the seam line.
The sentiment is from Swirls & Curls Verses and stamped using Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White card Stock.  It is matted with Melon Mambo card stock and attached to the bottom of the card using dimensionals.

Hello Blossoms - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #13

I've been itching to use the Hello Blossoms a la carte stamp, and the sketch challenge with Try Stampin on Tuesday http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/2011/05/try-stampin-13.html provided the perfect opportunity to do this.  And it paired up so nicely with the Paisley Petals Designer Paper from the new upcoming (July publishing date) Idea book and Catalogue that I was privileged to be able to preorder.

Always Artichoke card stock forms the card base, followed by a layer of Marina Mist.  The next layer, Tangerine Tango, I put through the Big Shot using the Texturz plate (backgrounds 1).
I colored the flowers on the stamp with markers (Marina Mist, Baja Breeze, Old Olive & Tangerine Tango).  and stamped it onto Whisper White card stock. A strip of Always Artichoke punched with the Pinking Hearts Border punch was attached to the bottom of this focal panel, and then the panel was matted on 3 sides with Marina Mist card stock. I cut 2 pieces of Paisley Petal Designer Paper and matted them with Always Artichoke card stock and positioned them on either side of the focal image as indicated by the sketch challenge above.

Ballerina Dress - Cards & Things Color Challenge 77

This week's challenge with Cards & Things  is to use the following colors:  basic black, basic gray, so saffron and old olive.  I made a card which was inspired by Laura Lipe here using the colors for this challenge and at the same time making a birthday card from my grand daughter, who's birthday it is next month.

The card base is Basic black, with a layer of Old Olive.  The Whisper White layer on top of that was embossed with the Framed Tulip embossing folder and sponged with So Saffron ink.
Dress: Bodice of dress was punched with Old Olive using the Tab Punch.  The 1" circle punch was used to make the neckline, around which I put small pearls.  I tied a 1/8" basic black taffeta ribbon around the waist.
For the skirt, I used the Blossoms Petal Punch.  The small petals were punched with So Saffron to make the top layer of the skirt, & Basic Gray sponged on Vellum was punched with the larger petals for the lower skirt. I put a pearl on each large petal.
I used Laura's idea for the punch layering for the sentiment- wide oval in Olive Green, 1 3/8" circle in So Saffron and the sentiment in Whisper White with the Scallop Oval punch.

Inks: So Saffron, Basic Gray
Papers: Basic Black, Old Olive, Whisper White, So Saffron, Vellum
